
MARY CARLSON, an American expatriate in London, has worked in the music and performing arts field for over 25 years.
With a Bachelor of Music Degree from Manhattanville College (1973); a Master’s Degree in Music History from Northwestern University (1974) and a Master of Science Degree from Columbia University, Graduate School of Business (MDPE Program 1983), Mary Carlson combines an in depth knowledge of music with the science of business administration.
She began her career at the New York Philharmonic in the mid 1970s (contracts administration and general management) and went on to work for Radio City Music Hall (business affairs), New World Records (general management) and the Franklin Mint Record Society (consultant) before moving to the UK in 1983.
In London, Mary Carlson has operated a consulting business, offering management consulting and public relations services to a broad range of classical music artists and organisations.
Ms. Carlson founded Arts Executive Search in 2000 and in a short time the company has become a leader in the recruitment of executives for the performing arts sector.
